Job Description
• Managing the day-to-day operation of the finance & accounts department and its associated functions.
• To support the CEO and assist in the business processes to ensure the smooth operation of the finance & accounts department
• To liaise closely with other colleagues and all stakeholders, including external stakeholders
• Provide leadership and oversee all accounting and finance functions and ensure the integrity of accounting and financial information.
• Review the accounting and finance operations, systems and processes of the Company and if need be, put in place a more effective systems and processes.
• Costing and cost management – review, ensure or put in place a system of efficient costing and oversee general cost management for the growth and profitability of the Company.
• Periodic financial reporting including profit & loss, balance sheet, regional and product/service accounting reports.
• Budgeting and budgetary control – drive the budgetary process and financial performance management including review and analysis of periodic management accounts vis-à-vis budgets.
• Treasury management – ensure efficient management of financial resources including cash, receivables and working capital in general; review and ensure efficient funding of the Company’s operations at all times; advise the CEO of appropriate capital structure to maintain and on other finance decisions
• Internal control – review or put in place a system of strong internal control to safeguard Company’s assets.
• Ensure compliance with all financial reporting regulations including account filing requirements of Corporate Affairs Commission, etc as and when due.
• Liaise with external auditors for year-end audit exercise and manage the audit process.
• Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and remittances including PAYE, WHT and income tax; liaise with tax consultants if any, and external auditors in these connections.
• Strategic management – contributes to the formulation or review of business strategy and in particular, financial strategy, for the long-term growth of the Company.
Qualification/ Requirements
• The idea candidate should have minimum of 8 – 10 years experience preferably in a retail business with minimum of 3 years as head of finance/accounts
• Minimum of a good first degree in business or related discipline plus professional accounting qualification; an MBA will be an added advantage
• Excellent organizational, supervisory and decision making/problem solving skills essential
• The candidate must be a team player with very good communication skills and willing to work to specific deadlines
